Sod Installation
Installing new sod is a perfect solution to patchy and withered grass, and is a quicker and easier way to create a lush outdoor space than trying to spread grass seed and then wait for it to sprout. Princely Lawncare will ensure that your new sod grows thick and healthy, and stays green and lush for many years to come.
Fence Installation
Providing both privacy and protection, fences can easily elevate the look of your outdoor space and be made to fit any desired aesthetic. With a wide variety of profiles, materials, and colors available, you can be sure that Princely Lawncare will deliver a high-quality fence that pairs perfectly with your property.
Remove all the dead branches, sticks and dead leaves that are in your yard left over from winter. If you do not pick them up immediately, especially oak leaves, they will not allow your existing plants or grass the oxygen needed to breathe. Take your time and closely observe your lawn. Do you see any evidence of moles? Moles can be especially troublesome during winter. If any grooves or pathways were burrowed in the surface of your lawn, most likely moles or even mice have been paying you a visit.
As soon as possible, you should spread a natural pre-emerge weed killer over the entire surface of your lawn. This will kill any weed seeds left-over in your lawn from last year and prevent dandelions and other weeds from growing. Natural products such as corn gluten are best. You can purchase these products from most farm and garden centers as well as many big-box stores. Be sure to read the labels and get only corn gluten so your yard will not be polluted. It will also serve as your first application of lawn fertilizer.
If you detect that moles have been in your yard, start applying Milky Spore to your lawn early in the spring. This kills the grubs and the larvae of Japanese Beetles which is the natural food of moles, in your lawn. When you remove their food source, you also force them to leave. Milky Spore is the most environmentally responsible product you can use for moles; It is also the longest lasting.
Spread a 2" to 3" layer of natural (not dyed or colored) shredded bark in all of your landscape beds. Be sure to sprinkle the corn gluten down BEFORE you lay down the bark. Remember that one cubic yard of bark can cover on average 150 square feet of bedding. As bark decomposes, it will also add a layer of fertilizer to your landscaped beds. By turning over your bark by mid-summer you can make it last much longer!
Edging your lawn is your very next step. If you like your beds to run right up to your lawn you can address this in a couple of ways. Some people prefer to use a small Troy-bilt rear-tine tiller, which cuts about a 12" clean, vertical path. This can give you a nice crisp line of freshly tilled edge to your lawn and is as easy as running the tiller over it just a couple of times a year. The second way is by the use of a lawn edger or a straight-bladed shovel, which is much more work.
Lastly, give your lawn a good soaking with your irrigation system or lawn sprinklers. This will activate the milky spore and the corn gluten.
